My Love Affair with Peaches: Happy Birthday, Mom!

Image
My mom and I both celebrated summer birthdays.   We both came from a long line of farmers and gardeners.  We both loved those long, lazy sultry days of summer pulling weeds in the garden, dead-heading roses, drinking iced tea, spitting watermelon seeds out over the lawn, and sitting on the screened porch under the ceiling fan reading a magazine.  The heat did not bother us much.  We loved the sound of buzzing bees, the flash of lightning bugs, the smell of grilled meat, and the feel of the cool water in a swimming pool.  We both loved the taste of delicious fresh peaches.   In celebration of her birthday, I have assembled and sorted peach recipes recommend by Southern Living and The New York Times.  Enjoy them with your mom and your other loved ones!
